BELOVED
BELOVED considers portraiture as an act of attention — a space in which presence, intimacy and individuality are allowed to remain fully visible.
Across the series, Bing's subjects occupy the picture plane with an assured stillness. Stripped of unnecessary narrative, each portrait asks the viewer to remain with the individual rather than search for an explanation of them.
Colour, gesture and gaze become the architecture of each painting. Together, the works continue Bing's investigation of identity and representation while moving toward a quieter language of closeness, dignity and human presence.

The portrait becomes less a description of a person than an encounter with one — held in colour, stillness and presence.
