Benny Bing
A work-live studio shaped around the rhythms of making, gathering and everyday life.
IKEA Canada partnered with Benny Bing for its first IKEA Festival, opening the doors to his Toronto work-live studio as part of the brand's At Home series.
The collaboration explored the relationship between creative practice and domestic space: how a single environment could support the different rhythms of working, hosting, relaxing and recharging.
IKEA furnishings and storage solutions were integrated throughout the studio, creating a functional environment for both artistic practice and everyday life.
The studio is not separate from the life around the work. It is where making, living and gathering meet.
Work.
Live.
Working from a downtown Toronto condo required the studio to perform multiple roles. It needed to accommodate the physical demands of painting while remaining a place for living and gathering.
The collaboration with IKEA considered the environment as a complete system — using thoughtful furniture, organization and storage to create flexibility within a limited footprint.

Creativity begins with the spaces that make it possible.
Presented as part of IKEA Canada's first IKEA Festival, At Home with Benny Bing offered a view inside the environment surrounding the paintings: not simply where the work was displayed, but where it was conceived and made.
IKEA Canada × Benny Bing considered the studio as part of the creative practice itself — an evolving space for making work, sharing ideas and living alongside art.
