A meditation on brotherhood, presence and the complexity of Black male identity.

Across the series, Bing approaches portraiture as a space for recognition. The figures are presented with a directness that resists reducing the individual to a single narrative, allowing posture, clothing, colour and expression to carry their own forms of meaning.

My Brother's Keeper extends Bing's ongoing exploration of identity while turning particular attention toward relationships between men — how brotherhood can be expressed through solidarity, memory, vulnerability and simply being present for one another.

My Brother's Keeper was presented in Montreal alongside the work of Marcus Troy.

The exhibition brought Bing's portraiture into conversation with work by Marcus Troy, creating a presentation shaped by parallel perspectives on Black masculinity, culture, style and lived experience.

Installed together, the works created a visual dialogue between two distinct practices. Bing's highly rendered portraits occupied the space alongside Troy's work, allowing the exhibition to move between individual identity, collective experience and cultural memory.
